When Words are Hard to Find...

We all face tough times. Jesus did say that "in this world, you will have troubles, but take heart, I have overcome the world." (John 16:33) What do we do when the storm comes abruptly and unexpectedly? When everything feels so upside down that even words are hard to find. We pray. We lift our tribulation to God.

When words are hard to come by and you don't know what to pray, I'd like to offer this solution. Turn to the Living Word of God and pray Psalm 23. These six short verses have such might and power and not to mention, covers it all.

Verse 1: The Lord is my Shepard, I shall not want.

God is leading us. He is with us. We have everything we need in Him.

Verse 2: He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

Our peace is found in Him. Keeping close to Him and allowing His peace to wash over us when we are facing hard times can be so difficult. Abide in Him. He is the ultimate comforter.

Verse 3: He leads me along paths of righteousness for His name sake.

He lifts us higher than we can go on our own. He takes us places to glorify Him and the Kingdom.

Verse 4: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. Your rod and staff comfort me.

During the darkest season, we shall not fear. Our God is for us. He is with us. He is protecting us and providing for us. His rod and staff keep us safe in the face of danger.

Verse 5: You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil. My cup runs over.

God sees us and lifts us - regardless of what others say or do. We are chosen and anointed by Him. We are abundantly blessed.

Verse 6: Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.

Because we are His beloved, His goodness and grace follow us wherever life takes us. We are in Him and He is in us. Forever.

These six verses pack a punch when we don't have words to speak. They keep us grounded in God. It reminds us that He is with us. He is providing for us. He is all we need.

Much love,

Darlene
